Wooler Steam Laundry stood near the Dye Mill. For a time it was the philanthropic project of Countess Tankerville, but in 1 November 1902 it was transferred to Mrs Booth of the Salvation Army and run for the rehabilitation of women in need. In about 1920 the building was demolished down to the lower storey and then incorporated into offices for Redpath's Northern Farmers' Trading Association. It was severely damaged by fire on 14 July 1927.
