Quern (Berwick upon Tweed)

The Upper stone of a rotary quern was ploughed up by Mr A Blackhall of Folly Farm in October 1963. Mr Blackhall indicated the exact find spot at NT 9834055712. The quern is at present lying by the side of the field at NT 98325573. (1)

The quern is either medieval or Roman, probably the latter. It is not one of the type which are normally classified as Iron Age. (2)
