Site of Battle of Grindon AD 1558. (1)

The site of a running battle in 1558, when a thousand horseman, led by French officers, were overtaken by Sir Henry Percy and defeated. Not considered to be of much importance as this was only one of many Border Skirmishes taking place about this time. (2)
