Site Details

Low Learchild Brick Works (Edlingham)

This is the site of a brickworks likely associated with the construction of the Alnwick to Cornhill railway line in the 1880s. It is unknown when this site was worked. The first two editions of the Ordnance Survey map bracket the dates when the site operated the three kilns and dug from the clay pits shown in the 1890s. By this time the site was purposefully described as "Old". The third edition on the 1920s shows that the site was never re-worked.
