Lanton deserted village (Ewart)

[Areas centred NT 9210 3110 and NT 9248 3115] Deserted Medieval Village of Langeton (Site of). (1)

There is a tradition that Lanton (spelled Langeton in the Testa de Nevill) was once much larger, hence the name Longtown. (2)

Surveyed at 1/2500. (3)

The remains consist mainly of field banks, and the only remains of steadings are in the area centred at NT 92483115. Published survey (25 inch) revised. (4)
