Possible shieling at Upper Stoney Holes (Kielder)
The remains of a stone building can be seen just south of a stell and the junction of Scaup Burn and Kielder Stone Burn. At some time in the post-medieval period, farmers built this shieling, which they lived in during the warmer summer months, when animals were brought to the uplands to graze.
