Bell pits at Kemping Moss (Doddington)

Between 30 and 40 bell pits lie scattered across Kemping Moss. The circular depressions measure about 4m across and are up to 1.5m deep. Each one is surrounded by a bank of up-cast and small particles of coal can be seen on the ground.
