Member of the barony of Muschamp (Wooler), held by Odinel de Ford in 1242. 1296: 7 taxpayers. 1313: 8 taxpayers.
1580 Border Survey: three tenants. Court Rolls of Ford Manor show a high number of tenants (NCRO ZAN B17/12). 1714: five tenant farmers. By 1763 leased to two tenants as a single farm. Armstrong's map of 1769 shows village on east-west axis. Estate map of 1784 shows similar form village; sited to modern farm cottages (NT 956353). Township reorganised at end of 18th century.
Slight earthworks on north side of estate cottages, disturbed by narrow rig ploughing. (2)
