Burial Mound on Ford Common (Ford)

Marginal. A barrow on Ford Common 14ft in diameter, 1-1/2ft high and made of earth and stones(1) contained three burials by cremation. One of the burials was with an urn and four jet beads. (2)

The urn and beads are now in the British Museum. (3)

Ford Common has been considerably quarried and no visible traces of the barrow appear to have survived. The highest point of the area, where the barrow may have existed, is centred at NT 959387. (4)
