Crookham Deserted Medieval Village (Ford)

Crookham village was mapped and surveyed in the 1760s when it consisted of two rows of buildings either side of a town gate with crofts behind. Crookham was a member of the barony of Muschamp (Wooler). Old documents indicate that it had 13 taxpayers in 1296 and 10 taxpayers in 1312/13. The Poll Tax returns of 1377 indicated that there were 24 adults living in Crookham. The Ford Court Rolls of 1669 showed that there were 49 tenants in Crookham and by 1707, 36 tenants.
