NT 933384 Ford Forge, a rural industrial hamlet formerly comprising the forge, a fulling mill, dye house, saw-mill etc - with a water powered cornmill (intact, listed and currently being preserved), cottages etc on the opposite bank of the River Till. An ancient site but extant buildings dating from circa 1800. Although some buildings were demolished in the 1960s, the remainder are in use. Recommended for group listing. (2)
Ford Forge, Heatherslaw. Grade II listed building. Built originally as a large estate smithy, later became a commercial forge making spades. Now disused. 1767, extended c.1830-40. Two storeys. Older section to left. (3)
Earliest building ?1779. Extended 1830s and/or 1840s. Estate run until 1778 when leased out. The forge ceased working c.1897, but spades were assembled until the 1920s. Then converted to a sawmill. (4)
