Possible Neolithic causewayed enclosure on Flodden Hill (Ford)
The possible cropmarks of a Neolithic causewayed enclosure have been identified from aerial photographs. The enclosure measures 106m by 78m. The outer ditch is divided into segments and there is also evidence of a possible inner ditch and an entrance. The possibility that this may be a Neolithic causewayed enclosure is only provisional so far, but, if confirmed, this would be the first genuine Neolithic causewayed enclosure so far identified in Northumberland.
