Knock Hill round houses (Cheviotside)

NT 998178. Settlement of unenclosed round houses at Knock Hill North. (1)

A roundhouse standing on a level platform below the crest of the ridge at 300 m OD and overlooking the valley to the N is possibly associated with a group of clearance cairns [NT 9917/91-95]. It is 6.2 m across within a stony bank 1.5 m wide and 0.2 m high. There is the suggestion of a groove running around the inside of the wall, particularly in the N sector. There is no entrance visible. This roundhouse was listed, but not surveyed, by Gates (1983, 124) (1). (2a)
