Lynemouth Colliery (Lynemouth)

A 20th Century colliery is visible as earthwork on air photographs examined as part of the North East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey and recorded by the Coal Industry Project, centred at NZ 2997 9088 and covering approximately 113 hectares. This colliery became part of the Ellington complex. It was one of Britain's largest collieries until it was closed due to an underground fire. (1)
