Grange of Newminster Abbey [Northum 69 NW 5]. Ulgham Grange:- Estate given to Newminster Abbey by R de Merlay by charter of 1138, for the purpose of founding granges.
After the dissolution the Grange continued to be a possession of the Crown ....
In 1648 it belonged to Col E Grey. who was then resident. It is at present [1832] the property of Earl Grey. (a) (2)
Occupied by the Fenwick family until 1849. (3)
[NZ 2410 9267] There are no traces of antiquity to be seen in the farmhouse or outbuildings of the present Ulgham Grange. The present owner could give no information. (4)
General association with HER 11070. (5)
