Hartford Military Camp (West Bedlington)
During World War II, a military camp was set up at Hartford. It comprised Nissen huts and roadway and was used as a training camp for new recruits. The huts were occupied until the later 1950s when the site was largely cleared after opencast mining activity in the area. One hut survives standing north of and opposite to the main entrance to the Country Park.
