Cropmark? (Seaton Valley)

'NZ 282748' Crop-mark of a probable single palisade trench enclosing a rectangular-shaped area of approximately 1 acre in extent, with large post holes at either side of the entrance. No internal structures. Listed under possible palisaded works, including homesteads and settlements. (1)

On the eastern side of a minor plateau is an arable field. No trace. Jobey usually associates palisaded works with the pre-Roman Iron Age. (2)

Some doubt has been cast on the location of this site and it may be an incorrectly sited reference to NZ 27 NE 16. (3)
