There was a sacred well in Mitford, where there is now a stone fountain erected by Col Mitford. (1)

There is no trace of a well. The stone fountain, now disused, is built into a wall at NZ 17208599. (2)

Drinking fountain, 1877. Erected by Colonel John Philip Osbaldeston-Mitford. On the site of a holy well, reputedly the scene of miracles in AD1006 associated with a relic of St Cuthbert's shroud. (3)
