Dissington Hall (Ponteland)

Dissington Hall, Grade II*. Country house. 1794 by William Newton for Edward Collingwood. Ashlar, slate roof, main block and two lower service wings to rear forming a U-plan. Three storeys, seven bays, plinth, hipped roof with two tall stacks. Greek-style porch of c.1820. Interior: staircase hall with columnar screen; octagonal garden room. Architects plans and drawings preserved in the house. (1)

William Newton drew up over 20 designs and plans for North Dissington Hall in 1794. The mansion was completed in 1797, the year before Newton died. (3)
