Twizell (Whalton)
This is the site of the deserted medieval village of Twizell. It was first recorded in 1242. It was virtually deserted by the early 17th century, though a map of early 17th century date showed a group of three houses near Ogle Burn. By 1830 these had disappeared. The earthwork remains of a number of buildings can be seen on the east bank of the River Blyth.
