Milbourne (Ponteland)
(Area NZ 118753). The chapel at Milbourne is first mentioned in 1202. It occurs again in 1304 and 1575, after which nothing more is known.
Two possible sites for this chapel were discovered in the early 19th century when, 'A quantity of bones were found by Milburn stack yard and a number of burnt stones also', and, 'They were baring a quarry at Milburn Old Trench (when) a quantity of bones were found about two yards underground'. (1)
Local enquiries failed to obtain any information relating to this chapel or to 'Milburn stack-yard' or 'Milburn Old Trench'. The location of the bones found could not be ascertained. (2)
