Hagg Bank Deer Park (Prudhoe)

This is the site of a medieval deer park, which covered the area of Hagg Bank from the mid-13th century. It was surrounded by an earth bank which supported a number of trees. It was built for the occupants of Prudhoe Castle. By 1405 much of the park was being used for cattle farming. A 17th century map shows a building at the north end of the park, which was probably the home of a park keeper.
