Cross dyke south east of Uplaw Knowe (Alwinton; Netherton with Biddlestone)
A cross dyke, or linear bank and ditch, runs across the ridge along which Clennell Street passes. The cross dyke measures 130m long but originally was probably a much longer feature running between the steep slopes on each side of the ridge. A gap in the dyke allows Clennell Street, a medieval drove road, to pass through. The cross dyke was probably a prehistoric boundary that was reused in the medieval period. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
