'Grindstone Law'. An irregular-shaped earthwork with a single rampart, Approximately 1.5 acres in area. Listed under Native Sites in Northumberland. (2)
A sub-circular enclosure consisting of a slight bank and ditch, with a single causewayed entrance on the east side. There are no internal remains. The whole abuts a natural scarp on the north, and is extensively mutilated. Surveyed at 1:2500. (3)
Listed as pre-Roman Iron Age univallate (includes forts, settlements and enclosures). (4)
Published survey (25 inch) revised. The work is non-defensive both in situation and strength. Its general form, however, agrees with Jobey's pre-Roman Iron Age class and the lack of internal features suggests a pastoral function. (5)

A D-shaped enclosure of probable Iron Age date is visible as an earthwork on air photographs at NZ 0037 7331. The enclosure is defined by a single ditch with traces of an internal bank in places and encloses an area of approximately 0.5ha. Sections of the ramparts have been destroyed by post medieval quarrying. The enclosure is extant on the latest 1992 oblique photography. (7b)
