Medieval Wayside Cross (Belsay)
This is the remains of a medieval cross. It comprises the remains of a stone base measuring 90cm by 85cm. It contains the stone shaft, which still stands 2.75m high. Both are undecorated. The cross was originally situated in the medieval village of Belsay. It was moved to its present location by 1864. It is a Grade II Listed Building and a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
