A probable medieval wayside cross prior to the emparking of Belsay Castle, consisting of a shaft 2.7m high set in a square socket-stone. See photograph. (2)
Belsay Village Cross approximately 250 yards east of Belsay Castle. Grade II listed building. Medieval cross shaft and base. 14th or 15th century. The square base is c.2ft high with a tapering octagonal shaft c.8ft high. The shaft has an oblong base c.9 x 15 inches, and broach
stops at the corners. The monument was formerly the village cross of Old Belsay Village and was moved by Sir Charles Monck in the 1830s. (3)

NZ 0867 7855 A medieval cross shaft and base which dates from the 14th or 15th century, was formerly the village cross of Old Belsay Village (located to NZ 082 784) and was moved to this position by Sir Charles Monck in the 1830s (5c). It was surveyed at 1:1000 as part of the RCHME Belsay Survey. (5b)
