Stelling monastic grange settlement (Bywell)

Stelling was a grange of Hexham Priory and in 1379 was leased to one tenant. There does not appear to be any evidence that there was a settlement here before the grange nor of a peasant settlement attached to it. Stelling seems to have been a single farm from the 16th century onward and has been emparked at some time.
