Possible Roman site, Island Farm, Bishop Middleham

Enclosure at Island Farm (c) Blaise Vyner 1992

A large rectangular enclosure is visible as earthworks on an aerial photograph held in the SMR AP files. It is centred approximately on Island Farm which lies on the crest of a small hill just to the south of Bishop Middleham village. There may be structural features just to the south of the farmhouse.
