Stainton WW2 POW Camp, County Durham (Stainton)
This is the location of a German working camp within the established allied training camp constructed during WWII. The site was identified during a national survey conducted by English Heritage. (1)
Stainton Camp continued to be used by the army after the end of WW2 and more housing was built on the land to the south and west of the original camp including the site of Blackbeck POW Camp (2)
