Shooting Box, Edmundbyers (Edmundbyers)
There are a number of features which possibly date the building to 1620-1690, with another elaboration in the 18th century. There is also a possible blocked well under and behind the staircase which in 1977 was enclosed. The house was extended in c1820 to include the hallway and left gable.
The property also commands fine views to the south, presumably ideal for hunting. The style of the building has created a vernacular building suitable for the gentry.
