Wall and terrace, 145 - 157 Haughton Road, Darlington

Fairly unaltered circa 1870 railway style terrace except for replacement windows and doors throughout. Dark brick courses at sill and lintel levels. Built on the original upper level of Haughton Lane. Remaining 110 metres of ashlar retaining wall on the approach to former Haughton Bridge. Evidence of railings in copings. The road was reconstructed at a lower level to replace the Haughton Lane level crossing. Eastern end removed and replaced by successive highway works since the removal of the bridge. (1)
