St Margaret's Allotments, Margery Lane, Durham 10/12/2021
Allotments off Margery Lane located behind the lane and the old school, they first appear on 3rd Edition OS maps (1).

The first recorded history of this site was as a quarry which was highly likely to have provided sandstone for Durham Cathedral (4, pp. 7). After this they were utilised as gardens for the monks during the medieval era (4, pp. 362).

This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.
