This church was built between 1878 and 1881 by Dunn and Hansom, with the presbytery added circa 1890 (1). Dunn was a notable architect of Catholic revival structures in the Northeast of England. He often worked with Hansom (2).

This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.
