Lidar of a potential Roman road to the south of Relley's Mill. NZ 255 417. Lidar data (c) DEFRA
A Roman road branched off the main Roman road, Dere Street RR8 at Willington and headed in the direction of Durham via Brancepeth and Langley Moor. No evidence has been found near Neville's Cross but aerial photograph and lidar does suggest the road may have turned northwards past Relley's Mill (1 & 2).
