Hawthorn Hive, "Sirius" (Hawthorn)

The ship the "Sirius" (built in 1875) was stranded two miles south of Hawthorn Hive in a great storm on 12th November 1901, while on a voyage from Shoreham by Sea to Sunderland. The wooden barquentine weighed over 240 tons and was built in Sikea in Sweden. All eight crew were saved.
