East Mellwaters, Bowes (East Mellwaters)

The ditched enclosure lies at the top of the escarpment south of Sleightholme Beck. No traces of buildings have been found inside the earthwork but it may have been a small homestead similar to Iron Age examples at the eastern end of the Stainmore Pass.
