This sandstone boulder has a number of prehistoric cup and ring marks carved onto it. These depressions may be natural but were probably carved in the Early Bronze Age or Late Neolithic. The purpose of these carvings is not clear though they may have had a religious function. This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument protected by law (1).
