Cup-marked boulder, Eel Hill North, Barningham Moor, Teesdale (Barningham Moor)
This sandstone boulder has a number of cup marks on it. Some of these carvings were probably created in the Early Bronze Age or Neolithic periods. The purpose of these markings are not clear, although they may have had a religious function. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law (1).
