Cup-marked outcrop, The Rigg, Lartington, Teesdale (Lartington)
This sandstone boulder has a number of cup marks on it. The motifs consist of single cups, cups with grooves and grooves. These carvings were probably created in the Early Bronze Age or Neolithic periods. The purpose of these markings are not clear, although they may have had a religious function (1).
