Mound north of Coundon Burn, Bishop Auckland (Bishop Auckland)

It is possible that the mound at this site may be the remains of a Neolithic long barrow, although there is no definite evidence for this (1).

This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.

A large elongated mound of uncertain date is visible as earthworks on LiDAR. The feature is aligned broadly east-west and measures 45m by 16m, and almost 2m high. The feature is extant on the latest 2007 LiDAR.
