A rock on the west side of a small hill at this site has a stone cairn on top of it. The rock itself has a cup mark carving on it. The rock art may be Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, whilst the cairn will have been constructed during the Early Bronze Age. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law (1).

A carved sandstone rock, 0.95 metres by 0.63 metres by 0.15 metres. It is situated on Barningham Moor, in the modern sheep-grazing enclosure known as Scale Knoll Allotment. The carving consists of a cup and a groove leading down towards the north edge of the rock. Recorded as part of The Northumberland and Durham Rock Art Project (NADRAP) 2005-2008 (7).
