Rhodesia, Shipwreck off County Durham (Easington Colliery)

Possible wreck site of English steam trawler RHODESIA. The ship was stopped by a German submarine in 1916, her crew forced to abandon ship, after which she was sunk by explosive scuttling charges. 14 miles E.S.E. of the Tyne. (1).

This is one of a number of vessels recorded on Pastscape with the same grid reference suggesting that the actual location is unknown. It is likely that these records were created using the same source with a generic grid reference for coastal waters off County Durham.
