War Memorial Cross, Market Place, Wolsingham (Wolsingham)

Portland stone cross of Celtic type with a square shaft standing on the capital of a square pedestal that rests on three steps. Front face of the cross is decorated with Celtic patterns whilst the rear face carries the words "Our / Glorious / Dead". The whole is located on the triangular end of an island in the village centre adjacent to the western wall of the village library with roads on either side. It is set within an enclosure of short stone pillars linked with tubular rails. The enclosure also contains four concrete flower beds at the corners of the memorial base.

Front face of the pedestal carries the dedication: "Remember / with thanksgiving / the true and faithful men / who, in the Great War, / went forth from this Parish / for God and the Right. / The names of those / who returned not again / are here inscribed / to be honoured for evermore / 1914-1919". First World War names are inscribed in two columns on the left and right faces of the pedestal. WW2 dates and names are located on the rear face. Unveiled 1920. (1-2)
