Granite cross of St. Cuthbert style on a tall tapering column with a large rectangular base and two steps. The area around the memorial underwent major landscaping in 2005 turning the area into a semi-circular open paved area on the south side of the main road through the town at the entrance to Willington Jubilee Park. The memorial remains the focus of the landscaping with an arc of short stone blocks arranged around the front edge of the circular block paved area it now occupies. The dedication is carried on the front face of the pedestal: "To the Glory of God / and in sacred memory of the gallant men / of / Willington, Oakenshaw and Page Bank / who sacrificed their lives in the Great War / 1914-1918 / And the World War 1939-1945". The names from Willington for both wars are on the right and back faces, whilst the names for Oakenshaw and Page Bank are on the left face. Originally unveiled as a First World War memorial in 1924.
