Scarth Hall AKA Scarth Memorial Hall, South Green, Staindrop (Staindrop)

Scarth Memorial Hall, Staindrop 19/11/2021
Scarth Memorial Hall, Staindrop 19/11/2021
Staindrop's Scarth Memorial Village Hall was built in 1875 in memory of Mr. T.F. Scarth; land agent to the Dukes of Cleveland of Raby Castle. An upstairs room was added after the First World War to commemorate the men from Staindrop who died in that conflict. During the Second World War, the Hall was used to provide N.A.A.F.I. facilities to soldiers stationed in Staindrop. In the late 1940/50's there was a cinema in the Hall. Another use of the memorial room was as a Reading Room with the hall providing a collection of newspapers and books for the local community. (1-3)

This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.
