Stone wall with raised central section of around 5ft constructed of four courses of blocks with upper and lower lintels, flanked by two wings of narrow coursed stones laid on edge, not quite the same height as the central section. This memorial was formerly unveiled in 1951 in a memorial garden in front of the Co-Op in Church View but was moved to its position here on the Village Green when the bypass was built in 1972. Located at the top of a path into the green flanked by flower beds. Dedication is on a plain inserted panel on the face of the central section of the wall, entitled Lanchester and District War Memorial followed by the dates of the First World War and WW2 either side of a cross. At the bottom is the dedication in memory of those who gave their lives and as a thankoffering for those who returned.
