The original chapel of St. Chad's College was built in 1908 and located behind the college buildings on South Bailey. This soon grew too small and a larger wooden chapel was built behind the newly acquired buildings of St. Chad's College on North Bailey in 1928 (1). It was intended that this would be a temporary structure, but it is this wooden chapel that still exists today and contains many original features of the first chapel, including a large First World War memorial reredos (2-4). The chapel itself is a one storey wooden structure with protruding porch on the western gable and two dormer-style windows, one on either side of the chapel towards the eastern end of the building.

This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.
