United Methodist Church, Catchgate, Annfield Plain (Catchgate)
The United Methodist Church on North Road, Catchgate, first appears on the third edition Ordnance Survey map of 1919-1926 (1). Google Streetview shows that the building is stone-built with a number of arched windows facing onto the road along the south west gable: a triple window arrangement over the front entrance between two stone-built buttress/column protrusions, then two further windows, one either side. It has a steep-pitched slate roof with three decorative carved finials, one on the top of each column and one on the apex (2). It has been documented that the church contains at least two war memorial rolls of honour as well as memorials from buildings that are now closed in Annfield Plain (3-4).
