St. John's Church, Castleside (Castleside)
Consecrated in 1867, St. John's Church first appears on the second edition Ordnance Survey map of 1894-1899 (1) at the junction of Church Street and Front Street. Built of local stone the church was designed by Mr. Ewan Christian and is a reproduction of a church he admired whilst on holiday in Switzerland (2). The church contains a number of features dedicated to the fallen of the World Wars (3-4).
