Located at the junction of New Road and Front Street on a fairly steep slope, the war memorial at Burnopfield takes the form of a polished granite obelisk on a tapering pedestal on top of four steps. The monument is set within a raised kerb with flower borders around the outside. The top of the pedestal bears a protruding piece of stone all the way around with a carved wreath decoration on each side. The dedication is to those of Burnopfield and District who gave their lives in the First World War, with the names incised on all faces of the pedestal. Originally unveiled in 1921. Names of WW2 war dead have been added later to the risers of the bottom step. (1-2)
