Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Breckon Hill, Great Lumley (Great Lumley)
A Wesleyan Methodist Chapel is marked on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1857 (1) within the worker's village of Breckon Hill. The village probably dates from the late 18th century (2). The footprint of the building on the early Ordnance Survey edition corresponds with a pair of properties now named Morningside and Lumley House. The building is two storey with rendered walls and a slate roof. It is quite possibly the convereted Methodist Chapel. The chapel is known to have once contained a war memorial plaque, the location of which is now unknown (3).
